Chasing My Tail

A million things to do

Clothes to pack

Dog fur everywhere

Where is that clothes brush?

More hours are needed

My thoughts are scattered

So is my underwear

How many hats?

What will fit in each bag?

Roof rack?

Sleep, I need some of that

More dog fur

My clothes are going to smell like dog

Tires rotated

Oil changed

To wash or not the car?

Vacuum the seats or just another blanket?

Ice chest?

Food, real food, no junk

Coffee, tea, caffeine a must

Trail Mix and audiobooks

The adventure is close

Sleep first

I think I’ll try some of that

About Grynnie

I am a 50 something woman restarting her life with a new found sense of joy and freedom. Life is to be enjoyed and is a grand adventure. Who knows what will happen next? Oh yeah, did I mention that I have also been, a daughter, a mother, a wife (twice) but who is counting, an oyster opening jewelry maker, a nursing assistant, a legal secretary, a casino worker, a ski resort worker and a banker. No wonder I get a little confuzzled at times and get distracted by the shinies and fuzzies in the world while I am busy chasing rainbows. I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up. Oh, well you don't think I had all those jobs in the same place did you? I have lived in (takes a deep breath) California, Mississippi, Nebraska, Hawaii, California (again), Nevada, Utah, Texas, Missouri and am now back in California yet again.

  1. I loved your use of zeugma in this poem (the socks/underwear both being scattered part). And, yes, it took me at least 15 minutes to track down the word “zeugma” as being the figure of speech that you had cleverly employed. Personally, I hate packing for a trip–because it involves so many decisions.

  2. My life on a daily basis! (Not the packing as much as the stressing.) I can so relate to this. 🙂

  3. I identified with animal fur, and in my case, more animal fur and even more animal fur. 😀
